The international airport in Turkmenabat is located 7.5 km south of the city (15 km from its center) near the Ashgabat - Turkmenabat highway and the Ashgabat - Kerki railway. The new airport complex has more than 40 facilities, including the passenger terminal buildings (with four gates for boarding), VIP terminal, cargo terminal, new artificial runway 3800 meters long and 60 meters wide. The capacity of the passenger terminal is 500 passengers per hour. An air traffic control tower, runway supervisory unit, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, helipads, cargo and passenger aprons, a centralized aircraft refueling station (CAFS), fuel and lubricant service facilities, an automatic refueling station on the apron (AFS), an airfield dewatering system, an access road with a bridge over the railway tracks, a railway with an overpass for draining fuel and lubricants and other facilities have been built to create a modern infrastructure that ensures increased flight safety, improves the comfort of air passengers and the working conditions of airport personnel. There is also a customs control point, check-in and self-check-in counters for passengers, baggage claim, hand luggage inspection point, and immigration control, which are equipped with electronic and technical equipment to exclude the transportation of prohibited items. Passengers have access to shops, cafes, internet cafes, first aid room, mother and child room, prayer rooms, pharmacy, children's play areas, business zones and Duty Free. All buildings of the air terminal complex are made in an original, uniform architectural style, organically combining the most modern trends with elements and color of national architecture. The territory adjacent to the airport complex is landscaped and green. There are also indoor parking lots and public transport stops. Convenient access roads to the terminal will ensure smooth traffic flow. The cargo terminal with warehouse facilities is designed to handle 200 thousand tons of cargo per year with a built-in 25-bed hotel for transit crew members and passengers who can comfortably spend time waiting for their flight without leaving the terminal. In addition, administrative buildings, a medical center for aviation workers, a 100-bed hotel, an in-flight catering facility with a 100-seats canteen, a police building, customs, and a sanitary and quarantine control buildings have been constructed on the territory of the airport complex.
